27 September–11 November

Museum of Architecture and Design

The exhibition Riko mobile units presents the results of a workshop that was prepared in cooperation between the company Riko Hiše and the Faculty of Architecture, Ljubljana University. New ideas for wooden mobile residential units that are modified according to the seasons, climate, location, and the needs of an individual are an interesting alternative to generic residential units that do not take advantage of the natural resources in their surroundings. KOTO Experiments presents projects 3M Nomad for the company Actinia in association with 3M East, Lumpi and Ambient (for the company Mercator), and the Armaron trademark of the Chair for Textile and Fashion Design, Department of Textiles, NTF UL. Three varied projects connects an invitation from the Slovene economy. Different materials, colours, and implementations have been an inspiration for ideas about their usage in furniture design, interior textile furnishings, and spatial and fashion accessories. All these ideas are marked by openness towards different ways of life and a connection with different customs and traditions. more »

Award-winning design: selection of Slovene designers, the winners of the Biennial of Industrial Design Gold Medal from MAO collection

Kresija Gallery

In over 50 years since the Biennial’s founding, the BIO Gold Medal, the highest award of the event, has been received by many Slovene designers: 11 graphic and 41 industrial designers. This shows that Slovene designers always participated in great numbers at the event and proves the quality of Slovene design appraised by international juries. It is our wish to create a comprehensive overview of the best works from BIO exhibitions in the future, but for now we begin with an exhibition of just over a third of Slovene works awarded with BIO Gold Medal, which still represent an accurate picture of the rich heritage of Slovene design. The curators of the exhibition are Cvetka Požar and Špela Šubic.
